“The Beauty of Belonging: Building a Strong Spiritual Family”
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1, KJV)
Have you ever felt like you didn’t quite fit in with your church community? Like you were an outsider looking in? I know I have. But let me tell you, my friend, that’s not what the Bible says about our spiritual family.
As followers of Yeshua, we’re called to build a strong spiritual family that supports and encourages each other (Hebrews 10:24-25). We’re called to be a community of love and support, where everyone feels welcome and included. And when we do, something amazing happens – our hearts are filled with joy and our faith is strengthened.
Let me share with you the story of a man named John, who was struggling to find his place in the church. He felt like an outsider, and couldn’t connect with anyone. As we talked about community, I shared with him the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), where Yeshua says that our neighbors are those who need our help.
John was touched by this truth, and slowly began to see the importance of building relationships within the church. He started attending small groups and participating in community service projects, and as he did, he felt a sense of belonging and connection with others.
But building a strong spiritual family takes time and effort. It requires us to be willing to listen, to serve, and to love one another (Romans 12:10). When we do, our hearts are filled with joy and our faith is strengthened. We begin to see the world through new eyes, with a sense of clarity and purpose.
As we walk in Yeshua’s footsteps, let’s remember that building a strong spiritual family is a journey we’re on together. May this day be filled with opportunities to love and serve one another, and may we be like Yeshua, who built a community of love and support.
